Giro Weekend 2 Recap

This past weekend presented some challenging weather conditions with temps close to freezing, rain and winds that were down right brutal at times.  On Saturday in the B's race, there was a solid attack with a group of riders off the front that lasted for well over a lap.  Towards the end however, this move was shut down and once again left up to the sprinters to battle it our for a sprint finish directly into the 20-30mph headwind.  Adam was able to battle it out for a solid second place in the sprint to build on his back-to-back wins from the weekend before.

Sunday brought out a smaller contingent of riders that probably was more representative of a break group from the peloton, instead of being the actual peloton.  Taking advantage of the field and conditions, Phil was able to make a move and solo in for the win, with Adam taking second in the chase group to follow.  Once again strong showing by Adam and great to see Phil stick an attack like that to get the win.

Great job by the team overall, as it's early in the year and we are all learning more about what we should or should not be doing in a race that will help as things kick up heading into April.  We still have the other half of the team to get into the mix too!

On a side note, glad to see TLV's Chris Mooney is ok after a crash on Saturday heading into the finish.  It's early in the season and as happy as we are to be on our bikes, I think we all could do a better job of being aware of other riders around us, the moves we make in the pack, etc... I know I've personally made a few "lane changes" that were mental lapses on my part.  We all have lives outside of racing, as we are no Pro's and should make sure we keep focusing on the skills aspect of racing to better ourselves on the bike.  I see some bumping and wheel touch drills in the near future for the G-Tour!
